Mastering a goal doesn’t require a self-driving car, a five-bedroom mansion, the latest iPhone, or Prada bag. Sure ‘dress to impress’ goes a long way, and the latest tech gadget may be impressive, but it’s not a prerequisite. John the Baptist had many followers, and he wore a camel skin and sandals.
As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.” Matthew 11:7-9 NKJV.
Moses didn’t need to dress like a prince, or live in the palace, to lead the people. He had learned all the lessons required there. It was time to move on.
We need to move on too. Our journey starts now. Begin where you are and take the next step.
Moses didn’t need to be a vigilante or a prince. Moses required a humble spirit. We don’t need to be rich or have it all to complete our goal either. If we don’t have an office to work in, we can start with our kitchen table. Or head to a café or local library. If we can’t afford to take our partner out to a restaurant to talk, then we can go for a walk around the block. We don’t need the best of everything to start. We just need to begin.
As Tony Robbins stated, “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.”
“A writer who waits for ideal conditions under which to work will die without putting a word on paper.” - E.B. White
